Sorry for not posting!

Hi everyone!

I have had no time at all to post or even play Football Manager because of coursework and other things for GCSE but I’ve hit a window where I  can play so I’m going to quickly wrap up the current save and show you the progress and the end!

Stay tuned

Transfer Window ‘16

Hi Everyone!

Today I will be covering my transfers and my pre season. I will be shaking up the set up of my posts so that they are more stream lined and much easier to digest so I will probably do updates over 2 monthly periods which also incidentally allows me to play more on the game! But without further ado let’s start the post.

Promotions

I promoted a couple of players to the first tem squad this year due to their growing experience, rapid development and high potential. They are

V

Vagner was a must to promote as he already has a cap for Brazil, and you have to remember Brazil’s striking options (e.g. Leandro Damiao and Neymar etc…)

Another one who came up was Jessy Schmidt

JS

He had impressed greatly on loan spells away from the club, most notably at Stade Rennais where he partnered Yann M’Vila in midfield, proving that he can compete among France’s if not Europe’s finest!

CB

In Casper Beck, I have a good back up for Luke Shaw, this allowed me to allocate funds to other areas other than DL.

Transfers

Transfers Out

out1

out2

out3

A lot of players left mostly on loan but notable exits include Paul Pogba, PSG gave me an offer that I could not refuse also club legend Adam Lallana left and went to Swansea, at some point I’d like to get him back but I know that may not be possible. Another player who left was Ademilson who had a very bad string of injuries which eventually hindered his development so I sold him while he was still wanted. Mayuka went to HSV and Jordan Rhodes left to help fund the move for Rodrigo, he went to Hull (tigers) who I think were recently promoted up to the Premier League. That is about it, also some reserve players left such as Jano and Agosthina Ca.

Transfers in

IN

We had a lot of players come into the club, I will highlight the first team ones below;

1. Rodrigo

R

He is one of the best strikers in the world, I mean have you seen his attributes! He is probably going to be the signing which proves the difference in Europe and allow us to really push on.

2. James Rodriguez

JR2

I am a big admirer of this player, he is the main source of goals for Porto, without him the likes of Falcao and Hulk wouldn’t have gone of to better clubs

Players for the youth team

Now here are some players with good potential.

JS2

D2

WH

I was really lucky to pick this player up so cheaply! Plus he has developed decently.

CB2

AR

CT

EV

FDJ

KK

LF

SL

MA

This guy is class! Already he is good enough for most Premier League sides!

So now here are my pre season fixtures, pretty successful if Isay so myself it was all handled by the assistant manager.

pre season

Now here are my opening fixtures for the next season;

opening fixtures

And here is my Champions League group

champions leqague group

I should qualify for at least the Europa League if not the knockout rounds of the Champions League, I reckon Real Madrid will top unopposed and Benfica and us will be competing for second.

Summary

Now I pose two questions to you before I finish

  • Do you think I made some wise transfers?
  • Do you think I will have a good start to the season?

So…

Thanks for Reading

Squad Development Post

Hi Everyone!

We have just completed 4 seasons, so I am going to show you where my original squad is at the current moment in time. And the development of the squad from the first season. Well I’ll go in alphabetical order;

Artur Boruc

AB before

AB

Well Boruc retired after 2 seasons of being on the bench, first it was Butland then Ter Stegen ahead of him in the pecking order. He has turned into a potentially very good goalkeeping coach.

Richard Chaplow

RC before

RC

RC

Well Chaplow was one of the first to go and has continued a lower league career with Huddersfield and spellson loan to Coventry and now Doncaster. He has declined a lot maybe due to a lack of matches and the quality of football.

Nathaniel Clyne

NC before

NC

Clyne has improved a lot, both in value and in attributes, getting all key stats for an attacking full back. Currently he is used in rotation and he has earned two caps for England.

Jack Cork

JC

JC

Cork has improved considerably since season 1, his already impressive mental stats have improved and he has turned into a very good deep lying playmaker which is crucial to my tactics, he has earned 33 caps and still in his peak. He is currently my vice captain.

Kelvin Davis

KD

KD

Davis is now manager of Bradford PA who are in the Blue Square North and started at  Hayes and Yeading before being sacked after a season and a half. He looks to be climbing the managerial ladder.

Steven Davis

SD

SD

SD

Steven Davis has a settled place in the Blackburn team after leaving us. We had made £2 million of him and he has gone on to be an integral part of mid table Blackburn. He got them promoted and helped them settle in the Premier League.

Steve De Ridder

SDR

SDR

SDR

Steve De Ridder left in the first season, and he is currently in his peak, playing for Huddersfield of which he has been an integral part.

Guly

GDP

GDP

GDP

Guly recently retired and I would’ve liked to keep him on till the end of his career but he couldn’t get a work permit and went to Montenegrin club Buducnost before becoming an average scout.

Danny Fox

DF

DF

DF

Back up to Shaw for most of his Southampton career, he left as a free agent and went to QPR, under achieving given their squad, exactly like real life.

Jose Fonte

JF

JF

JF

Former captain Fonte left last season and became Player/Coach of Hull. He has 1 full season left then he will become a full coach, a very good one at that..

Jos Hooiveld

JH

JH

JH

Major part of the squad in the first season but then other signings pushed him out and he was sent on loan out before finally being sold to Watford.

Adam Lallana

AL

AL

I had to sell the Southampton talisman after he suffered a major injury in the 14-15 season as he just didn’t perform the season after due to a massive decline in stats and at that point he was 26, past the age where he could recover from this. At Swansea now, he is just there as back up I think though we haven’t started the season yet.

Rickie Lambert

RL

RL

RL

Rickie Lambert unfortunately couldn’t perform like like he did in real life, but I expect he will get a massive upgrade after finishing joint top English scorer in the Premier League. However, he left the club totally last season and went to Sunderland before going to Wigan who incidentally are in the Championship.  He’s declined a lot with age but he can still perform in the Championship.

Emmanuel Mayuka

EM

EM

EM

Mayuka spent a couple of years at Espanyol then left in a £3.8 million deal to HSV. He was never good enough to be in this squad but he is a good little player in real life but underplayed by Adkins however early indications from MP show that he will be used a lot so in FM14, EXPECT an upgrade, probably for all the Southampton players after the resurgence last season starting with 3-1 win against Man City!

Jason Puncheon

JP

JP

JP

Jason Puncheon is another one who couldn’t replicate real life form so he left and had 3 seasons at Watford before being sold to Wigan, same as Rickie Lambert.

Gaston Ramirez

GR

GR

Gaston has improved a lot and now has over 50 caps for Uruguay, a firm part of Uruguay’s side, looks like he will get over a century of caps at this rate, maybe 150 considering major tournaments. Also he is a firm part of my Southampton team mainly due to his skills and also his versatility over a number of positions. Due to my failure of not realising that individual role works all key attributes instead of just one with attribute training.

Jay Rodriguez

JR

JR

Rodriguez has improved so much since season 1! At his peak now, he is a great striker though he was off the boil in the last season but his record fro England is very impressive with 10 in 28.

Morgan Schniderlin

 MS

MS

Another player who has improved a lot is Morgan Schniderlin who has become club captain and oneof the best players on our team. His central midfield partnership with Cork and Taider, then Ward Prowse was amazing and the base for our success in this save.

Luke Shaw

LS

LS

The development of Luke Shaw has been a sight to see considering his current stats and the fact that he has maybe 3-4 years of rapid development! He is already England’s number 1 choice left back and is wanted by a lot of big clubs including big rivals Manchester Utd despite their fullback-less formation!

James Ward-Prowse

JWP

JWP

Exactly like Luke Shaw, a massive prospect who has delivered! He has improved a lot and still has a lot to go at the young age of 22! He is a very good advanced playmaker and part of the ‘original Southampton’ midfield trio along with Schniderlin and Cork.

Well I hope you enjoyed this hefty post on the first squad from day 1 in our journey! It took a lot of time to write but it will be worth it if you guys enjoy it. I will be starting on my pre season so maybe something before I go on holiday in a week!

Thanks for Reading

April and May ‘16: Season End

Hi Everyone!

I’m back with my next update, I decided to cover these months together as there was only one Premier League match and the possibility of three more Champions League games, in this I will cover all my fixtures, tables, news and of course we’ll see what happened in my second leg against Manchester Utd in the Champions League.

Fixtures

Now let’s see my predictions for the month ahead.

fixtures

Hopefully we can wrap up the Premier League before the three harder fixture to end the season, we should but we could suffer from burnout like Man U two seasons ago.I don’t want to have to do an AGGGGUUUUUEEEEEROOOO moment against Arsenal. I’m optimistic in saying that we’ll draw with United in our 5th game against them this season then maybe go through on penalties or away goals.

Southampton vs Norwich

First up in April was a game against the Canaries,

vs norwich 2

Good win, now to focus on the Champions League.

Southampton vs Man Utd

Hello this is Jeff Stelling  and we are covering today’s Champions League quarter final second leg of Southampton vs Man Utd, these are the last 2 British representatives in the Champions League, but one of them is going out, with me I have former Manchester Utd and current Reading manager, Steve Bruce and also I have  former Southampton and current Swansea player, Adam Lallana. What are your thoughts lads?

AL: Well I think that we can cause an upset, Jay and Dougie are bang in form and well I don’t see Man U doing well without Rooney, though Neymar is a classy forward.

SB: I have to disagree, Vincenzo Montella has done a bang up job since Sir Alex Fergurson retired, it is hard to replace my mentor but I reckon he’s made his mark in signing players like Neymar who will be crucial in this tie. It is players like him who will let us through to the semi final.

And now we are live with Martin Tyler.

Thank you Jeff and the teams are out and we kick off now.

21st minute: Oooh. That’s unfortunate for Southampton as Jay Rodriguez breaks down mid-dribble, looks like a torn hamstring. On comes Ferreyra in his place.

40th minute: Header on by Inler to Neymar, he’s making a great run here, past Burdisso and he’s scored, precise finish under the keeper.

51st minute: Rash foul there, it’s a yellow for Neymar.

65th minute: Goal, Ferreyra has scored a header fro- it’s been disallowed, they can’t believe it, it’s given by the 5th official for a foul on De Gea  by Costa.

76th minute: It’s a great run by Alaba, what a great cross, and who else but Neymar is on the end of it. A simple tap in for Brazil’s number 10.

90 + 2: This is it, the end of this thrilling game, Manchester United the victors, 2-0.

vs manchester united 5

Burnley vs Southampton

I wanted to recover from the loss in mid-week to win against Burnley and end the season with a bang.

vs burnley 2

… This was disapointing, losing to Burnley. I wouldn’t have minded if it was thems99’s side but still, to Burnley.

Southampton vs Fulham

I want to end with a bang and win the title so we have to win this, get the season over with so we can focus on strengthening in the summer and get some form otherwise we will be smashed in the next few games.

vs fulham 2

get in

Great way to win the league. Smashing Fulham 6-0! Can’t believe that we won the league after just 4 seasons!

Southampton vs Liverpool

Didn’t really care about the next few matches so I played younger players and started to relax.

vs liverpool 3

Good draw, one of the prospects I talked about in the last post scored so I’m pleased.

Manchester City vs Southampton

Again I just wanted a decent showing as we had clinched the title.

vs manchester city 3

Good showing from the lads to get the job against the Citizens.

Arsenal vs Southampton

We would lift the Premier League trophy whatever happens so I just played a random side.

vs arsenal 2

Good draw and the season is finally over! We ended well with a four match unbeaten run so that was good considering our opponents.

Here is the overview;

results

A kind of rollercoaster month, knocked out of the quarter finals of the Champions League then winning the title, so in the end a good month and a bit; here is the table now

Table

league end

Blackburn and Leicester went straight back down and Norwich had 5th season syndrome. Winking smile. Arsenal ended their Champions League places streak and Chelsea had a disappointing season finishing 7th. In the end our double figure margin became only 6 points but still 12 over Tottenham in 3rd.

Before I go on, I’ve realised that I haven’t updated you on Chile’s progress under me so here it is.

International

Here are the results and my latest squad, see if you think I’m doing well.

chile results

We are 2nd in the World Cup qualifiers behind Brazil on goal difference.

Chile squad

Chile squad 2

If you want specific player screenshots, just ask!

End of Season Review

First here are the fan’s confidence in me and my job security;

confidence

I’m untouchable! Everything is above 50% and it’s looking peachy!

man city job offer

Also after our win this appeared! Of course I rejected though it would have been great to have so much money to spend but who cares, we won the title, money will pour in now!

Now my player of the season had to be one player with a league average of 8.12 and overall average of 7.95, 9 goals and a staggering 12 Man of the Match-es, the one, the only

D

While his attributes don’t scream out at you, you can’t argue with the stats. He is quick, strong, good in the air and just a tank! He was also fans’ player of the year !

I was manager of the year;

MOY

72% win percentage was incredible, I was 800 points ahead of Montella in second.

James Ward-Prowse won footballer of the year .

FOY

Erik Lamela came third in the young player of the year behind Alaba and Jack Wilshere.

YPOY

Also here is the season summary for the Premier League (I will do a post about the world’s happenings later along with my retrospective)

season summary

James Ward-Prowse was our leading goal scorer with 15 goals whilst Douglas Costa had 13 assists to be our leading assister.

And I think that’s it for this post. Whew! It has been a mammoth of a post to write and I’ve done. Expect another post by Saturday.

Thanks for Reading

March ‘16: Youth Intake

Hi Everyone!

Today I will be covering my month of March, within this post will be my results, the table and also what we wait all year for… my youth intake. This month could be the month that we secure a place in Europe for the second season running. Now onto the fixtures.

Fixtures

First, my predictions for the month.

fixtures

So a good month in the league, a bit pessimistic with the Real game but if we score then we are in a top position as our defense is very solid. Hopefully the lads will perform!

Reading vs Southampton

Now a game vs rivals Reading, they have done alright for themselves over the last few seasons and have this beast of a Japanese defender who I was chasing for a while. It will be hard to bypass him but we have to try.

vs reading 2

I rested a few players as we had Real Madrid in the Champions League in 3 days but still I would expect to beat Reading. Never mind now we need to turn our attention to the game against Los Galacticos!

Real Madrid vs Southampton

Welcome to Sky Sports 1.

I’m Jeff Stelling here to cover this warmly anticipated game as Southampton travel to the Bernebeu for the 2nd leg against Real Madrid. We have two legends of the game beside me, Matt Le Tissier and Steve McManaman. Let’s here your predictions;

MLT: Well Jeff I have to back my old team here, with Rafael out of this leg with a red card, I think that Douglas Costa will have a big say here. I’m going for a Saint win.

SM: I have to disagree with you there, having seen the line up, Real Madrid seem to have the better players and I’m sorry but my old team will easily overpower Southampton, the 0-0 in Southampton was a fluke but I do expect a Real win.

Well now to Martin Tyler with kick off.

Thank you Jeff and we are off.

1st minute: Whoah! One minute in here a Ramos has a red card! Southampton came hurtling out of the blocks and had a clean sight of goal and Ramos is sent off for a professional foul! Real are down to 10 men!

3rd minute: A crunching tackle there from Arbeloa and Nem is injured, they are going to have to make a change, on comes Gaston Ramirez, a great substitution player, he is unlucky to start but now he has pretty much the whole game to show why he should have started.

25th minute: Southampton are probing now. Here is another corner, it’s cleared by Marcelo but right to Douglas Costa who slips in Ward-Prowse. GOOOOOOAAAAAL! He scores from a tight angle, Casillas didn’t have a chance!

35th minute: It’s thrown in to Costa who surges past Marcelo and puts in the cross.. SCHNIDERLIN!!!! He puts it into the back of the net, what a beautiful cross from the little Brazilian.

HALFTIME: It’s been a wonderful match so far and Real Madrid need to find 3 goals from somewhere with only 10 men! It looks like Southampton are cruising now, but don’t count out the Spanish giants.

48th minute: Mistimed challenge from Doria. That’s mandatory, a yellow card.

FULL TIME: Well that’s it, after a lively first half, the second half was a bit dull. Southampton are through and their reward for beating Real Madrid a fixture against Manchester United, the reigning Premier League champions. Here is the summary.

vs real madrid 2

Tottenham vs Southampton

After a brilliant evening in Madrid, we had to continue league form and face Tottenham.

vs spurs

Another missed penalty cost us! I don’t have anyone who can take a penalty in my squad! Guess we aren’t going to do an Invincibles season. Sad smile

Southampton vs Wolves

Hopefully we could bounce back against Wolves who were really struggling in the league.

vs wolves 2

Easy, routine win. Nothing else to say.

Leicester vs Southampton

Newly promoted Leicester shouldn’t be a problem for our team.

vs leicester 2

Good effort, easier win than the scoreline suggested.

200 games

This showed up in the message box. 200 games in charge and what a better team to face than Manchester United.

vs manchester united 4

Our defence was solid and we managed to keep Man U at bay. Hopefully we could take this to Old Trafford next month.

Table

league march

We qualified for the Champions League and look to win the league as well.

NEWGENS!!!!!!!

Now the time for our youth intake, we have brilliant facilities so expecting some brilliant newgens.

youth

We have got some very good newgens with the top three being;

1. James Jackson

JJ

2. Juan Miguel

JM

3. Andrew Paterson

AP

Player of the Month

This month it had to go to the captain and unsung hero of Southampton;

Morgan Schniderlin

MS

He plays for France now and he deservedly does. Him and Cork have a brilliant midfield partnership in real life and also in my story.

Summary

  • Great Qualification to Quarter Final of Champions League
  • Unfortunate end to our unbeaten run, longest in Southampton’s history
  • Awesome individual player performance.

Great month but I’m really disappointed by the end of our nearly Invincibles season. Sad smile Though I am still happy overall as we will almost certainly win the title. So that’s it for this update.

February ‘16: Mixed Month

Hi everyone!

I’m back with this update concerning my month of February. In this,I will be covering my fixtures, the tables and my view on the month. Without further ado, let’s move on.

Fixtures

First here are my fixtures for the month along with my predictions

fixtures

This is one of the hardest months that I have this season, 3 giants in 1 month! I predict 6 points in the league and going into the next round of the FA Cup.

Let’s see how I did;

Southampton vs Chelsea

First up was a tough game against the big-spending Blues. With Chelsea legends such as Lampard, Terry and Cech replaced by the likes of Toloi, Sahin and Falcao, could we overcome the Londoners.

vs chelsea 2

Come on lads! 2-0! We convincingly beat them on the counter attack, they couldn’t cope with our pacy attack! Costa and especially Rodriguez were a class above the opposition.

Blackburn vs Southampton

Next was Blackburn away, the only player that I’m scared of in that team is Nicklaus Helenius who always seems to find goals against our team.

vs blackburn 2

Again Helenius scored again but at least we won. Jordan Rhodes managed to score against his old club which must have been good for him.

Manchester United vs Southampton

This is the HARDEST fixture of the SEASON, Manchester Utd away! Surprised smile I am always scared at the Theatre of Dreams but hopefully we can get something from the game!

vs manchester united 3

We were compact and we stopped anything getting through, despite getting through a few  times, they weren’t able to capitalise on the chances that they had. We had one half chance which was a long shot from Nem which hit the crossbar.

Rotherham vs Southampton

I played a youth team, expecting a win against the league 2 opposition.

vs rotherham

It was a great game for the neutral, unfortunately not for me. It was tense all the way till the final whistle. It was an upset but a good thing to see was Woolley  who came up through the ranks and is one of my brightest prospects.

Southampton vs Real Madrid

WHOAH! We are playing REAL MADRID at St Mary’s Stadium! Who would ever expect this! We crammed in as many people as possible, all of Southampton heck even the Pompey supporters were watching this!  People climbed on to rooftops and headed to anywhere with Sky Sports it was going to be a class match.

vs real madrid

We dominated REAL MADRID! The only reason we drew was because of some last ditch defending and some excellent shot stopping. Casillas showed why he is one of the best keepers around, also Ramos had a blinder, he was a rock. A great performance.

Southampton vs Everton

A game against the toffees, would we overcome the declining Merseyside club.

vs everton 2

Easy win, no trouble and a clean sheet to boot. All in all a good home win.

Now lets see the overview

results

Did slightly better than expected but lost to Rotherham of all clubs, never mind, we have next year.

Table

Stayed top but I forgot to take screenshot anyway, we increased our lead by 3 points this month.

Player of the Month

He has been brilliant so there is no disputing that my POM is

DC

Just brilliant. Great performances against the big clubs, with assists and goals throughout, he was just the best player.

Conclusion

  • Good League Wins and general form
  • Great draw against Los Galacticos, Real Madrid
  • Unfortunate to get knocked out of FA Cup
  • Good player morale

So all in all a good month which was let down by the Rotherham loss. That’s it for this update but remember, next time it is the youth intake!

January ‘16: Transfer Window

Hi everyone!

Today is my next instalment, and within it I shall cover all the results, transfers and tables for the month of January. Without further ado let’s move on to the content.

Fixtures

Here are my fixtures and predictions

fixtures

A really tiring month so a lot of rotation will be done throughout the whole month. A lot of wins predicted along with a draw against last season’s main rivals Newcastle and a loss to Man City. Now let’s see how I did.

Southampton vs Rochdale

First in the month is against League 2 Rochdale, I’m going to play reserves and my youths for this but it should still be an easy win.

vs rochdsle

Easy win and we are in the 4th Round.

Southampton vs West Ham

Next we had West Ham who are staying steady as a mid table team; pretty much like Stoke in real life. We should win but as often seen, anything can happen.

vs west ham 2

Domination, what else! 11 shot on target, 58% possession, I could not ask for any more from the lads.

Stoke vs Southampton

Another difficult game in theory but they could crumble like West Ham did last game.

vs stoke

We can’t seem to put the ball in the back of the net, 3 clear cut chances and yet only one goal! We need a world class striker, someone who can hit 30-40 goals a season minimum! Rodriguez used to fit the bill but he seems to have fallen off the pace after the update.

Southampton vs Aston Villa

Next was a game to Aston Villa at home, we are unbeaten at home so should beat the Villans.

vs aston villa 2

We won three penalties, two from Adam Smith who could not cope with Nem and then Gaston. We finally converted them! Open-mouthed smile

Newcastle vs Southampton

A game against the Magpies but the Toon Army shouldn’t really be a problem for our side.

vs newcastle 2

Easy win, with us pretty much dominating throughout. Set pieces seem to provide a good source for goals.

Ipswich vs Southampton

I am playing a rotated squad against Ipswich. Should still be an easy win.

vs ipswich

Easy win against Championship opposition, not much else to say.

Southampton vs Manchester City

This should prove to be a hard game, I am playing my counter tactics against a team boasting the talents of Gotze, Badstuber, Aguero and so many others.

vs manchester city

It was a great game! I thought that we had won it when JWP scored in the 88th minute but then Gotze went on a great run and scored past Butland. I was so annoyed! But it is better than expected. We did not deserve to lose but then again, neither did they.

Southampton vs Swansea

Up next, it is a game versus the Welsh Swans, whom are always a tough team to play.

vs swansea

It was an easier win than the result shows as we dominated chances and possession.

Now here’s the overview of results;

results

A brilliant month! 16 points plus a safe passage to the next round of the FA Cup.

Tables

league jan

Top with a 15 point gap! We are unbeaten in the Premier League and we have conceded the joint least in the division and scored the most! It’s been a great season so far. I hope that I’m not saying this too soon but perhaps and Invincibles season is on!

Transfers

Now onto transfers, here are the transfers that I made.

transfers in

transfers out

I’ll go through my transfers

  1. Ter Stegen was transfer listed, and who could refuse to make a bid for the best goalkeeper in the game!

MATS

2. Baxevanis is just a prospective youngster

TB

Player of the Month

And now to my POM, there was really only one choice for this;

JWP

Second one for JWP, he was the deciding factor in most games and did amazingly throughout.

Conclusion

  • Great results
  • Great lead in the Premier League
  • Rotation is doing well
  • Thrilled with transfers

So in conclusion, it was a great and productive month. I’m thrilled with it and I think the league is pretty much won.

December ‘15: Tis the season to be…

Hi everyone!

Welcome back to my Southampton story, today I will be covering my month in December  with all the fixtures, standings and more

Onto my fixtures then

Fixtures

fixtures

I am predicting a loss in our final group stage game because we are away and I am going to play mostly my youth team. I am also predicting a productive festive period and a continuation of our unbeaten run… hopefully… although Arsenal always seem to know how to beat me. Well quite optimistic about this, let’s see how I actually did.

Norwich vs Southampton

First was a game to strugglers Norwich, should be an easy win.

vs norwich

This was a terrible result! We were dominating! And then by a stroke of luck, Ebanks-Blake managed to score past Butland after we had a lapse in concentration.

Bayern Munich vs Southampton

We travelled to Munich in order to face the German giants, could we scrounge up a result with our youth against the Bavarians?

vs bayern 2

Good display, unlucky result, Gaston recovered from his small niggle that kept him out for 3 weeks.

Southampton vs Burnley

Should be a win vs Burnley but with Football Manager, you never know

vs burnley

Great win, should have been more but a win is a win so I’m still happy.

Fulham vs Southampton

Now a trip up the M1 to London, to face the Cottagers, again should be a win with Hangeland retired and all their star players sold.

vs fulham

Good performance and a good win, this run of penalty misses shows that I need to find a good penalty taker!

Liverpool vs Southampton

Hard game against Liverpool, still strong despite their gradual decline

vs liverpool

They snatched away our win with a last minute equaliser. I was so gutted! We defended so well!

Southampton vs Arsenal

The last game in a hard end to the month. It is a Boxing Day clash with Arsenal in their first season without Arsene Wenger at the helm.

vs arsenal

Good, confident and solid win, we hit them on the counter and at set pieces, great win and a great result.

Now the overview;

results 2

Decent month, surprised by some results but got the points that I wanted and finally here is the draw for the 1st Knockout Round of the Champions League.

draw

Oh dear… worst possible draw, I was hoping for perhaps Anderlecht or someone but we got Los Galacticos with their star-studded line up and (in my opinion) the best player in the world; Cristiano Ronaldo.

Table

league dec

Still riding high with a healthy points gap from Man Utd and Tottenham.

Player of the Month

Well now it is time for me to cast my judgement over who can have the right to call themselves the Player of the Month! For me there is only one stand out player and that has got to be…

GB

A wall at the back and he has chipped in with some crucial goals from set-pieces, what else can be said, he is just a great player!

Conclusion

  • Decent results
  • Good lead at the top going in to the second half of the season
  • Squad coping with frequent games

Before I leave I need to ask a question to you…

Should I make any transfers in the winter transfer window?

Well that’s the end of the update, I might be able to squeeze in another one by Saturday so till next time.

November ‘15; Domination

Hi everyone!

My exams have finished and I am ready to get back blogging! So today I will be covering my month in November. As my title says we were absolutely class but I won’t give too much away. Well then onto my fixtures and predictions.

Fixtures

fixtures

There are my fixtures and predictions, should be an easy 9 points against three of the struggling sides, also three points in our Champions League Group should be decent, I’m pretty much assured 3rd place but if I can upset Inter, I may be able to snatch 2nd.

Results

Southampton vs Inter Milan

It would be a hard game against the Italian giants but maybe we could snatch a victory on the counter.

vs inter

We sat back on the counter and BOOM! We absolutely stunned them! Our centre backs were rock solid, and we were helped on our way when Obi lost his cool and got sent off for violent conduct. Lamela has been beast so far this season, a great signing! I really can’t believe that I thought twice about buying him.

Southampton vs Reading

Should be an easy 3 points at home against our rivals, they are seriously struggling  this season.

vs reading

Routine win, goals from Rodriguez and Doria. My set piece set up works really well, Doria has at least 10 goals in the past two seasons from them, which is a lot considering he is a centre back. Wellington Nem is out for 6 – 8 weeks with strained cruciate ligaments.

Wolves vs Southampton

Again, should be routine, no problems whatsoever.

vs wolves

Another easy win with Ward-Prowse getting a well-earned brace. Our penalty taking has been atrocious this season, missed 3 out of 5 with 3 different takers! Need a better penalty taker quickly!.

Southampton vs Partizan

We should smash the whipping boys of our Champions League group in our midweek fixture.

vs partizan 2

Smashed them whilst playing a rotated squad. I love Football Manager puns! Saint-ly!  It’s so bad that it made me laugh, as did this;

Inter had to win to have a shot at going through but Bayern were too strong, thankfully they won otherwise we would face the task of having to bettering or equalling Inter’s result in the final round of group fixtures, I don’t think that we could beat Munich again!

Southampton vs Leicester

Another win would mean a perfect month, please make my day Leicester.

vs leicester

Yes! Come on the Saints! We missed two clear cut chances but we still smashed them! A great even perfect month, all wins!

Here is the overview;

Amazing.

Table

league nov

3 points clear over Arsenal in 2nd and 8 over 3rd which is Tottenham. Surprise for me is how badly Liverpool are doing! They are 13th!

Player of the Month

Now onto my POM, the player who has stood out the most this month has got to be…

James Ward-Prowse

JWP

He has been sensational! 3 goals and 3 assists this month in all competitions! What a player he is turning out to be!

Conclusion

  • Great Results – Still unbeaten in the league
  • Young Players starting to show their worth
  • New signings have settled in quickly

Well that’s all for now, I will probably update again sometime this week.
